In 2000, the New England Knights was formed as a
member of the North East Football Association (NEFA). Led by Head
Coach Greg Volpe, the Knights finished with a superb record of 10-3
in their first year.
In 2001, the Knights continued their success ending the season 10-2
and earning their first NEFA Championship defeating their league
rivals, the Connecticut Giants.
In 2002, the Knights were undefeated in the NEFA regular season,
losing the championship game to the NJ Terminators. In 2003 and
2004, the Knights were the first team to have consecutive undefeated
seasons and were the NEFA Championship winner in those two years.
After the 2004 season, the Knights were nationally ranked #1 in
the North East and were invited to play in the inaugural National
North/South Bowl Game versus the Florida Kings. They defeated the
Florida Kings 32-14 becoming the National Champions.
In 2005, in an effort to continue the growth of the team as a National
force, the team joined the Garden State Football League, a AAA-rated
league by the Minor League Sporting News. In their first season
with the GSFL, the Knights went 8-1-1. This continued success earned
them another invitation to the North/South Bowl Game in Florida.
Once again, the Knights prevailed and maintained their status as
the National Champions.
